First line of defense
Phishing is one way many hackers will attempt to gain access to our network and do significant damage. Phishing can be done using email, text message (SMISHING) or phone call (VISHING). During a vishing phone call, a scammer uses social engineering to get you to share personal information and financial details, such as account numbers and passwords. The scammer might say your account has been compromised, claim to represent your bank or law enforcement, or offer to help you install software. We have recently had reports of people receiving phone calls from someone claiming to be from Microsoft and asking you to follow instructions for them to help you as your machine has been hacked. This is a known attempt to allow them to gain remote access to your computer, if you receive this call please hang up and block the number where possible and report the incident to Action Fraud. https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/reporting-fraud-and-cyber-crime |
