PsiXBot sextortion module

Well this is a bit of a turn up for the books.

Over the last few months have you been getting e-mails claiming to be a hacker who captured you veiwing porn! This could now be true.

This is the type of message below:

Hello!

I am a hacker who has access to your operating system.

I also have full access to your account.

 

I've been watching you for a few months now.

The fact is that you were infected with malware through an adult site that you visited.

 

If you are not familiar with this, I will explain.

Trojan Virus gives me full access and control over a computer or other device.

This means that I can see everything on your screen, turn on the camera and microphone, but you do not know about it.

I also have access to all your contacts and all your correspondence.

bla bla bla....

Well it now turns out that this is possible, hackers have been using a trojan virus called PsiXBot.

How does this work. Well you will have been infected at sometime. It normally requires a user to follow a link in a spam type e-mail the virus will install it's self without the users permission. The virus then waits on your machine until you open a web page which might have a porn related key word in the title. OK PsiBot has been around for a while now but new modules were added to enable this to happen.

What can I do to stop this well in simple terms don't click any link in an e-mail you are not expecting or from someone you don't know.

It's worth doing a virus scan to check your machine.
