Council Tax Scam

It would seem scammers are getting clever in the way they are scamming people. With so many people due to get a council tax rebate it would be easy to fall foul of the latest scam targeting people who don't pay by direct debit. If you pay by direct debit your rebate should appear sometime soon or you may have recieved it. Scammer are hoping you are one of those people who din't pay by direct debit. The Local Government Association has said that people who pay for council by direct debit will receive the rebate directly into their bank account. If people pay in other ways (not direct debit) they will be sent a letter with details of how to claim the rebate. They should never respond to a text or email.
